DC/DC Converter LM2596S |

Description
The LM2596S DC/DC converter is a small module that converts a higher input voltage into a lower output voltage. This is a stepdown switching regulator with a high efficiency (up to 90%) and little loss (heat). The input voltage can be in the range of 4 - 37 V. The output voltage can be adjusted between 1.25 - 35 V using a spindle trimmer. However, the voltage at the input (IN) must always be at least 2.0 V higher than the output voltage (OUT).
The module has 4 solder terminals for the input and output voltage:
IN+: IN-: |
Input voltage plus Input voltage minus/GND |
OUT+: OUT-: |
Output voltage plus Output voltage minus/GND |
The LM2596S DC/DC converter has a common ground (GND) at the input and output. The voltages are therefore not galvanically isolated.
The output voltage is set to 5.0 V as delivered.
Application examples:
- Supply of a sound module if only a higher battery voltage (e.g. 24 V) is available in the model
- Generation of a BEC voltage from the main battery
- Power supply for microcontrollers (Arduino, Raspberry Pi, ESP32, etc.)
- DIY/self-build electronics projects
