MSM-1 acting strange - reboot in loop sequence
MSM-1 acting strange - reboot in loop sequence
Hello,
After runnin the MSM-1 module in one of my build, all of a sudden after more then 10 hours of use with no issues it is now behaving strange.
I can get the sound and light to work for a few seconds, then it stops, blue lights flashing and the unit restarts. It does that repeatedly in circle.
Sometimes it reboot after 30 seconds and sometimes after 1 second.
It seems that the module stops when there is a action from the radio control, either switching a light or activating a sound by moving the truck.
When I apply throttle it almost reboot immediatly, its like there is too much data send and it is overloading in some way.
I have checked all connections, unplugged the speaker, unplugged the light output and it is still acting weird.
I have re set the module to various trucks and same issue.
I have unplugged all servo cables except the one for the motors.
Like i said, it was working fine for at least 10 hours. I havent made any modification since it is broken.
I have been using the MSM-1 module in 3 other trucks with no issues.
Ill be glad to have some help,
Thanks,
Dimitri

Re: MSM-1 acting strange - reboot in loop sequence
Hello Dimitri,
we've had a similar case before. Either the memory chip with the models or the processor lost some of its data. However, we don't yet know why this happened.
If you have access to a K-USB-2 data cable, you can use the MSM-1 Sound Teacher software to reload the firmware and the model memory chip.
Otherwise, you would have to send the module to us for inspection.
You could also try using a different one of the 14 models and see what happens.

Andy,
thanks for the quick answer, top notch support as always from Beier.
I have a KUSB2 Cable and Ill download the MSM1 sound teacher.

I already tried to change the models but to no avail, the issue persisted.
Anyway, Ill report back to you as soon as Im able to get my hand on my truck.
Dimitri.

Re: MSM-1 acting strange - reboot in loop sequence
I was doing the WRITE IMAGE while the speakers and lights were disconnected.
After unplugging everything and repluging again with Speaker and Lights, I dont have any sound or any lights at all.
The LED status is:
Green Solid
Blue slow flahsing
That mean slow power from the battery but of course I double checkand my battery is delivering enough power.
Please advise as Im lost here.
Thanks,
Dimitri

Re: MSM-1 acting strange - reboot in loop sequence
Do you have the new version (green circuit board) or the old version (gray Sub-D connector) of the data cable?
The old version doesn't work with the MSM-1. If you have the new version, you could try transferring data using a different PC.
If that doesn't work either, you'll have to send the module to us.

Re: MSM-1 acting strange - reboot in loop sequence
Hello
I have the new version with green circuit board.
I don’t have any windows computer at home except the one I’m using only for your product.
Unfortunately I don’t know anyone who will accept I install a software on their computer.
And beside that I’m on tour for another 3 weeks so if you can send me your adress I’ll ask my wife to send it to you.
It’s already unplugged and ready to ship.
In the meantime I’ll just order a new MSM-1 + speaker and cables because I have always need some !
Let me know how to proceed
Dimitri.

Re: MSM-1 acting strange - reboot in loop sequence
Send the MSM-1 to our address:
BEIER-Electronic
Winterbacher Str. 52/4
73614 Schorndorf
Germany
It's best to include a note with the items you'd like to order, so we can send it back together.
