Servo 2 Activation Issues

Beitrag von MattMPA »

Good day all!

I'm trying to use Servo Output 2 to open and close a fifth wheel latch, as I have done in other trucks.

In my other truck, I have the positions set, "automatic return", "can only be changed while standing" and "sound at movement selected".

Direct control is set to "-". This works in the other truck.

In this one, I need to control via a prop channel for it to work, and then I lose many of the options.

I've attached the file, but even after comparing to the other truck's file...I cannot see what could be different. (The only thing different is the resting end point of the radio for the other truck. I tried this..made no difference.

Am I simply missing a step in tying the radio channel 6 to the servo output?

Hello Matt,

the home position and positition #1 are very close to each other, so perhaps the servo is moving but you just can't see it.
I believe that those values will not give sufficent servo travel to open and close the 5th wheel latch properly.

Also note:
Since "Automatic return to home position ..." is activated you don't need function "Servo 1 home position" under Prop #6.

In fact this should be "Servo 2 home position" but once you release "Servo 2 Position 1" the servo will go automatically back to the home position, so there is no need for the function in area A.

If it still doesn't work try another servo or using servo 1 output.

Hi Rascal...

Yes, they are close...but I was moving things around trying to find the issue. It doesn't move at all if no prop channel is applied to the servo movement.

An update. I swapped to another Prop Channel...and it now works without direct control. Strange.

EXCEPT= every time I restart the SFR1, this servo moves abruptly...then returns to home and plays the sound effect associated with servo movement.

Now...not working on the new prop channel either. Moved to yet another prop channel...works with the same abrupt movement upon restart...then returns to home position with the sound effect.

The SFR-1 probably registered a wrong neutral position during setup because the stick or switch was in the wrong position. Use the diagnosis to check.

You remember your problem with the turn signals? Maybe the same root cause. ;)

Yes...was editing my previous reply when I sa your post. Yes, have tried the teach feature a couple times. Also do see that the 5th wheel servo is @ 1000 for neutral......not sure how to correct....will try teaching again

So....when the SFR1 starts with the servo at 1961 - I assume the SFR1 is pushing the servo to 1000 - and then back to "home"? That makes sense...but not sure how to correct. Teaching isn't helping..if I reverse the prop channel....it works...but now turns in the wrong direction....and I cannot flip the servo..

Diagnostics is putting neutral @ 1960 which is the home position in my set-up...

OK...lots of trail and error.....I reverse the home and position one settings---and reversed the prop channel..working!

Find a switch that has a neutral position of around 1500 and when toggled around 2000 (area A) or 1000 (area D).
