The sbus connection has stopped working.
The sbus connection has stopped working.
Hello, I have a problem with the USM-RC-2 module.
I am using a flysky FS-i6X 10ch transmitter and an FS-iA10B receiver.
I am at the stage of finishing the model, I have been testing various settings for several weeks, everything was working properly.
On Friday, I drove the model at home, everything worked fine, after playing I disconnected the power, everything looked normal. When I restarted the model after a few hours, I no longer had a sbus connection.
I replaced the cables, two receivers, restored the transmitter's factory settings and set everything up again, cleaned the project and uploaded various projects several times.
I can't restore the sbus connection in any way, even though it worked without a problem before.
Have you heard of such cases? Everything points to problems with the USM-RC-2 module.

Re: The sbus connection has stopped working.
Hello,
please upload your project file (*.usm) for us to check.
Have you tried switching to iBus for testing?

Re: The sbus connection has stopped working.
Thank you for your answer
The module has certainly been damaged . Prop # 4 channel is not working, any function performed through this channel is not working. In addition, the module does not detect driving backwards, does not play a sound and does not turn on the reversing lights, only if I disconnect the power and plug it back in, I can start the reverse and light sound, but only once. If I go forward first, there is no engine reversing sound and reversing lights.
As for connections and settings, I had everything set up and tested, I was learning how to use the various functions and everything worked perfectly. I did not change the design or connections, disconnecting and connecting the power supply made the module stop working properly. Anyway, non-working channel # 4 explains the lack of s-bus / i-bus connection and additional problems with sound and lighting only confirm that the module is damaged. It's a pity, because it was an expensive purchase for me, I have to check if I have a warranty.

Re: The sbus connection has stopped working.
Please upload the project file for us to check.
Also try formatting the SD card and save the project to the card again.
If it still doesn't work peform a diagnosis as described on pages 99 to 101 with the functions in the following order:
- throttle neutral to forward and back to neutral
- throttle neutral to reverse and back to neutral
- Prop #4 (switch or stick up/down or left/right, whichever applies)
Upload the file (diagnose.dat) here.

Ok, I do not know if I will have enough time today, as soon as I will write back everything checked.

Re: The sbus connection has stopped working.
Hello strusdoc,
what kind of ESC do you use? I'm asking because you enabled the "Speed controller has a braking feature" option.
In "Diagnose 03" you can see that signals are arriving at Prop #4. So there is no defect here. It is also almost impossible to destroy a prop. input.
Use a standard project from the DVD and test whether everything works without the S-Bus.

Re: The sbus connection has stopped working.
I apologize for the lack of more detailed explanations and signatures under the diagnoses and for my overly emotional approach. I was very stressed out yesterday with a problem and did everything quickly.
By default, the model includes the Turnigy TrackStar Turbo 80A and a dedicated engine. I also check everything on ESC Hobbywing Quicrun 1060 and stock engine from Tamiya.
The behavior of the systems is the same in both cases. I tested several ready-made projects, never got a sbus connection, channel # 4 worked only twice during several attempts. I will do more tests today and maybe I will record a video. In addition to the problems with the lack of sounds when driving backwards, I also noticed that if I connect the Beier with the receiver via the Sbus, sound disturbances are audible.
I will try to carry out more valuable tests and document them, I can also conduct them on the project you choose, which would probably facilitate the diagnosis.

Re: The sbus connection has stopped working.
During the tests, I smelled an overheated electronic circuit, the memory card began to have problems. I had to replace the card, interestingly after this event, prop # 4 started to work without any problems, but the s-bus did not work.
I bought the USM-RC-3, same situation, the s-bus does not work, now I am waiting for a new receiver and will test the RC-3 on it.
For now, it looks as if the RC-2 had a damage that damaged two working receivers.
I will inform you as soon as I decide on something.

Re: The sbus connection has stopped working.
Sounds strange, there is no voltage coming out from the USM-RC-2 or USM-RC-3 prop channels that could damage the receiver. The middle pin does not carry any voltage if there is no connection to external devices.
Instead all prop channels on the USM modules are supplied from a BEC (external BEC or ESC with integrated BEC) or 4.8V battery via the receiver, whichever is applicable.
Also note that an ESC with integrated BEC connected to any of the prop channels or the servo outputs may conflict with a separate BEC or 4.8V battery feeding the receiver, in which case the red wire from the ESC must be removed from the 3-pin connector and insulated.
Thus please check your BEC and wiring.
